More TGS goodness! White Knight Story ‘TGS 07′ gameplay & cinematic video.

A first look of level 5’s upcoming RPG for the PS3. The video posted before blew me away with the cinematic effects, but the fighting system seems pretty interesting and intricate even though it sounds simplistic at first.

Apparently according to Joystiq and 1Up the moves are by the press of one button, but the type of move or combo the character does is based on the position of your character so you have to watch for visual cues to respond accordingly, and based on that “loading circle” that keeps flashing at the corner of the screen.

The other thing that both sites mentioned was that you pre-create certain combo groups before hand, and can be viewed at the bottom of the screen.

Both of these ideas to me seem pretty innovative making fighting in RPGs a little more streamlined, and action oriented. Though it is doubtful how it is going to taken by classic turned based RPG fans, I feel that RPGs like the Final Fantasy series needed a revamp, and even though XII tried to do the streamlined thing the game was not as memorable.

Still I can see this game pulling it off as it seemed pretty smooth from that video, add the amazing graphical detail and it seems to me that the PS3 got its first huge gaming success.

On a side note…

I would like to talk about a story which I found on Qj.net which involves folding at home. Even though the article focuses on the Playstation 3 and how many more people have participated through it, it has to be pointed out that one can participate in the program through their home PC.

I think it is a great way for the people at home to contribute to science by investing some of their computing time (or rather gaming time) to help promote this service, which can allow for research to be done on various diseases which are stated in the Qj.net article, but also include (but not limited to) Huntington’s, and Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

More TGS Goodness. The SIXAXES will Rumble!

Posted in PS3, Playstation 3, Sony, TGS, sixaxis on September 20, 2007 by el1tevandal

Both 1up.com and Kotaku, report that Sony finally introduced a SIXAXIS that will rumble. It has been a long time in the waiting for most PS3 owners and fanboys, and something which I never understood as to why it wasn’t incorporated in the first place. As far as their justification for excluding it claiming that it’s a previous generation technology, I have to agree with a statement made by Jeremy Williams in a podcast he produces, where he said that rumble technology is essential as is stereo in a sound system.

The one bit of disappointing news to come out from TGS about the PS3 is that home will be delayed until next Spring. According to the little article, Sony will not live up to its promise fro delivering Home during this year, but during the keynote they never said anything about delaying the beta which is supposed to be available later this fall. I have been looking forward to this for some time, since I really think that the PS3 needs a community network as to attract more people to it, much like LIVE did for Microsoft and the 360. So this might hurt the PS3 this coming holiday season, though they still need that killer game that will sell units, since Lair proved to be a disappointment and Heavenly Sword though good it didn’t live up to the hype and exposure it got.

TGS Goodness

Even though a lot of the time TGS does not focus on the PC aspect of gaming ,the console counterparts still have some sweet gaming goodness to offer. MGS4 is one of the reasons I bought a PS3 (that and Assassin’s Creed back when it was first announced it would come out only for PS3), and when every new video that comes out for this game it introduces more and more enemies with obscure capabilities, but then again with every video it looks all the more sweeter.

I’m gonna need to re-play the previous three games before I pick this one up, and who knew that there was a “Big Mama”.

Edit: I was re watching the video and I just love the fact that when those FROG guys appear that big dude just keeps shooting relentlessly the one thats down. I find it so amusing, plus the arms dealer guy seems cool, kind of like another comic relief character in addition to Otacon.
